Project Overview
Crossing Rig Re-Build Design

Year Built
2020
Duration of Project
1 Month
Rus-Tec Engineering worked with the operator of horizontal crossing rigs to design a re-build modification to alleviate on-going issues with loss of lubricant and critical wear on the primary rotating equipment. All relevant OEM parts were measured and re-created in CAD prior to changes being made. The project involved collaboration between Rus-Tec, the equipment operator and the machine shop that would produce the newly designed parts. The result is a re-built machine that is better suited to handle the operating requirements without regular replacement of high-capacity bearings and seals.
Modifying equipment such as this from the OEM design can come with hesitation by operators, but when done with proper applications of engineering design the result is an increase in equipment reliability and a decrease in maintenance costs.
