Kieran grew up in Millet, Alberta, a small town a half hour south of Edmonton. As a kid he enjoyed playing sports….mostly hockey, baseball and golf. Kieran still plays a lot of rec hockey and golf with his buddies. In his youth he worked a few summers at a machine shop where he got to try his hand at machining. He enjoyed the hands-on work and the attention to detail it took. During his high school years Kieran worked for a seismic drilling company. He did maintenance on vehicles and rigs and he also went out in the field as a driller’s helper.
Kieran went to NAIT(Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) after high school where he graduated from Engineering Design and Drafting. In the summers while attending NAIT he worked at a geomatics company. After NAIT he went on to work for WIKA Instruments. He mostly specialized in thermocouples and other temperature sensing devices. Kieran was looking for more of a challenge and the oilfield had always been calling his name since his whole family was in it. So, he decided to go work for Oil Country Engineering designing oil rigs and oilfield equipment. He spent 6 years there and gained a wealth of knowledge in the oil industry. When the oilfield took a downturn, he moved to Collins Steel, a structural steel company. He soon realized he missed the oilfield and moved on to work for himself and do contractual work.
Kieran currently works for himself (K-Tech Design & Drafting) but has close ties with Rus-Tec. They have worked on numerous projects together. Kieran’s main field of work is still oilfield but with his 10+ years of experience in drafting he can work in many different avenues. Kieran’s main roles include design, drafting, field work, fabrication support and project management. He enjoys getting hands on and working closely with customers.Back to All Staff
